Cut is often considered the most important of the four Cs, as it determines how well a diamond reflects light. A well-cut diamond will appear brighter and more brilliant than a larger stone with a poor cut.
Clarity refers to the presence of internal or external flaws. Most of these are invisible to the naked eye, so a diamond graded VS1 or VS2 offers excellent value without a visible difference from a flawless stone.
Colour is graded on a scale from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow). For engagement rings, a colour grade of G–H offers a diamond that appears white to the eye while remaining more accessible in price.
Carat weight is simply the diamond's size — but it's worth remembering that two diamonds of the same carat weight can look very different depending on their cut and setting. Our specialists can help you compare stones side by side, in person, before you make a decision.
